The United Arab Emirates declared the opening of the second iteration of the Great Arab Minds program, dubbed the “Arab Nobel Prize.”
The initiative honors outstanding Arabs whose noteworthy accomplishments have advanced progress and enhanced knowledge in the Arab community and beyond.
It also seeks to rekindle the exceptional scientific inquiry spirit and historical leadership of the Arab world in such endeavors.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the commencement of the second edition of the Great Arab Minds Award, widely regarded as the Arab world’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize. This strategic project seeks to empower Arab individuals, ignite the brilliance of Arab minds, spotlight role models, and recognize the region’s most extraordinary talents, paving the path for a future in which Arab scientific contributions have a bigger worldwide effect.
Six winners will be recognized in the second iteration of Great Arab Minds, which has a total prize pool of AED 6 million. AED 1 million will be given to the winner in each category. Thousands of nominations are anticipated for this year from the Arab world and beyond.
The natural sciences, architecture and design, economics, engineering and technology, medical, literature, and the arts are the six areas covered by the awards.
The deadline for nominations for both people and organizations is October 31, 2024.
The initiative honors Arab intellectuals who act as role models for the younger generation by showcasing their original ideas that elevate the Arab world’s standing in knowledge, science, and culture on the international scene, in addition to honoring pioneers, innovators, and creators whose extraordinary achievements forge new paths for their nations, Arab communities, and the world.
The goal of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, according to Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Committee supervising the Great Arab Minds initiative, has been to create an enduring project since the beginning of this ground-breaking effort.
According to him, the goal of this project is to honor gifted people, provide inspiration to Arab intellectuals, and highlight role models to pave the way for a stronger Arab scientific movement down the road.
“Great Arab Minds is a strategic project that aims to revive Arabs’ historical role in determining the future of the globe while also demonstrating the capabilities and potential of Arabs.
It aims to uplift human knowledge’s foundational principles by promoting cooperation, partnership, and readiness for the future. Today, we should honor Arab intellectuals who have advanced civilization, according to Al Gergawi.
Ministers, authorities, professionals, and specialists from the United Arab Emirates, the Arab world, and other countries make up the judging panels.
